Grand Island Police Asking for Public's Help in Locating Murder Weapon
Grand Island police are asking for the public's help in locating a rifle used in the murder of Grand Island attorney Todd Elsbernd.
Investigators believe the center fire rifle may have been discarded along a road or highway between Grand Island and Hastings. However, authorities say it could be elsewhere in the tri-city area and aren't ruling anything out.
Officers have already conducted an extensive search and are now asking for the public's help.
Authorities say if you find, or have already found a rifle around the tri-cities, contact the Criminal Investigation Division of GIPD at 308.385.5415. Authorities say no charges will be brought up at this time in the case that someone has already found the rifle.
A reward is being offered for help in recovering the weapon.
Michael Petersen has been accused of killing Elsbernd, who was his former divorce attorney.
