GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (AP) -- A Roman Catholic priest in Grand Island faces felony charge after being accused of threatening his brother.

Michael Wetovick, 52, was charged last week with attempted second-degree assault, using a large piece of wood as a weapon and making terroristic threats for a June 16 incident involving his brother.

Wetovick's preliminary hearing in Hall County Court has been set for Aug. 29.

Sheriff Chris Rea says Wetovick accused his brother of stealing from him, and a fight ensued. The sheriff says the brothers have been involved in a long-standing feud.

Wetovick is an associate pastor at Blessed Sacrament Church. His staff on Wednesday referred questions to the Grand Island Diocese. Bishop William Dendinger said he could not comment until Wetovick's case is concluded.
