      Grand Island YWCA to Take a "Stand Against Racism"

      The Grand Island YWCA will be holding a breakfast on Friday, April 26 to kick off the Stand Against Racism event. A walk will take place the following day as part of the weekend event.

      The breakfast will begin at 7 a.m. and run until 8 a.m. at the YWCA, 211 E. Fonner Park Road. There will be a panel discussion comprised of individuals who are originally from other countries. They will be discussing why they came to Nebraska, their experiences once here and their thoughts about the American culture.

      The continental breakfast is open to the public and provided through free will donations.

      The next day, Saturday, April 27, there will be a Stand Against Racism Walk beginning at 8:30 a.m. The walk will start at the YWCA parking lot and will circle down South Locust to the fairgrounds and then back towards the YWCA on Fonner Park Road.

      African drumming group, The Fanti Way, will provideentertainment after the short walk and refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public.

      Over 300,000 people throughout the United States are expected toparticipate in Stand Against Racism events this year.
