Hardy Man Pleads Not Guilty to Sexually Assaulting Toddler

A 24-year-old Hardy man has pleaded not guilty to allegations that he sexually assaulted a 2-year-old child in August.

James Wheeler Jr. entered his plea in a Nuckolls County courtroom Tuesday.

A baby sitter reported that the toddler appeared to have been abused. The child was immediately removed from the home and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Wheeler was arrested following the resulting investigation.

His next court hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 7.
