Hastings' "Do the Brew" Highlights Craft Brewing, Helps Supports the Arts

As the craft beer industry brews up popularity in central Nebraska, Hastings officials are using that to their advantage.

The Hastings Community Arts Council hosted its 4th annual 'Do the Brew' on Saturday night, to help raise money for the organization. More than 150 craft beers were on tap for the tasting.

Organizers say the popularity of the event reinforces the longstanding support of the arts culture in the community.

"You know in the last couple years we've seen real growth," said Hastings Community Arts Council president Kaleena Fong. "We'll have over 700 people this evening, and this shows how much people love craft beer and when they can do it for a great cause that make it even better."

People from as far as Mccook and Lincoln traveled for the event, which will raise money for concerts in Hastings downtown city park later this summer.
