Driving off with the state championship title in a student auto skills challenge, two Hastings High School students received more than $70,000 in scholarships and prizes.

Micah Runyon and Dennis Maar earned multiple scholarships totaling $35,500 each, plus automotive equipment. They also received an expense-paid trip to Ford's World HQ in Dearborn, Mich. to represent Nebraska at the national finals of the Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills Challenge.

The winning team at the national event earns the right to shadow a professional race car team and participate behind the scenes with the pit crew at one of the televised races.
