Hastings Museum Receives Online Accolades

The Hastings Museum is one that many in the area have visited; whether for class trips, fun family outings or just for something different, and now it's receiving accolades on a national level.

In the last month Hastings Museum has made two national lists of museums to see in the country.

The museum was named on Flip Key, a blog hosted by Trip Advisor as one of 50 museums across the country worth visiting. The museum was also named as one of 50 destinations in between cultural sites and tourist attractions to visit in the country by the Huffington Posts travel site.

Officials say it shows just how unique their facility is.

"We’re a jewel. We’re this great museum; so many people don't know that we're the largest municipal museum between Lincoln and Denver. We’re far larger than folks think. And actually we have far more space that turns over and brings in traveling exhibits than people think," said Marketing Director Becky Tideman.

The 4,000 sq. ft. museum houses many exhibits and galleries, as well as a domed planetarium and 65 ft. wide screen theater.

Many exhibits often change. A new exhibit recently opened called, Cruisin’ the Fossil Freeway, explores what Nebraska would have looked like during the time of dinosaurs through art and fossils.
