Carlos Castillo will no longer be serving as Nebraska's director of Administrative Services after taking a job outside of state government.
Gov. Dave Heineman made the announcement Friday saying, "Carlos has been an exceptional Director of Administrative Services. I value and appreciate his leadership and his advice."
Castillo was responsible for leading the 11 divisions that provide accounting, procurement, personnel, risk management, building management, wellness and benefit services. He has served in this role since 2006.
According to Heineman, Castillo was instrumental in creating the state's wellness options program. The program was awarded the 2012 C. Everett Koop National Health Award which honors programs that improve health and cut health-care costs.
State Budget Director Gerry Oligmueller will be acting as director following Castillo's last day on Friday. This will be his third time serving as DAS director.
