Heineman in Support of Reduction of Tax Value on Ag Land

Governor Heineman hascalled on law-makers to reduce the taxable value of farm and ranch land.

The governor said hewould also support proposals to increase funding for Nebraska's property-taxcredit fund. The fund is used to offset property tax bills state-wide.

Farm advocates believereducing the taxable value of agricultural land would help farmers and ranchers.Opponents disagree and argue it would lessen the local tax base for schools andwould do little to help urban residents.
