Visitors to Sutherland Reservoir's Hershey Beach have been given the "all clear" to enter the water after being warned earlier this week that it may contain toxic blue-green algae.

Nebraska Public Power District, which owns the lake, says the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality has received results from a test done earlier this week. They say the results indicated the blue-green algae found in the lake is within acceptable standards and is not a health concern.

NPPD had asked visitors to refrain from swimming or walking in the water or allowing their pets in the water as blue-green algae can be toxic to humans and animals in high enough quantities.
