High Speed Chase Ends in Arrests


A high-speed chase ended with two Lincoln residents in cuffs near the Kansas-Nebraska border.

According to the Nuckolls County Sheriff’s Office, several agencies were told of a pursuit by the Republic County, Kansas Sheriff’s Office shortly before 1:00 a.m. Sunday.

They were told two people were in a black Chevy Trailblazer and had knives and possibly a gun in the vehicle.

The pursuit headed north on Highway 81 after an assault at the Belleville High Banks Races.

A Nuckolls County deputy caught up with the suspects on Highway 8 near Road 4800.

Authorities said the two were arrested a half mile east of Hardy, Nebraska, and held for the Belleville Police Department.

Three Nebraska law enforcement agencies were involved in the search, including the Nebraska State Patrol and Thayer County Sheriff’s Office.
