The Nebraska Department of Labor is partnering with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other sponsors to offer a Hiring Our Heroes Fair for veterans and their spouses Wednesday, May 1 at the Heartland Event Center in Grand Island. The free fair will run from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
"The Grand Island event will mark the ninth Hiring Our Heroes fair in Nebraska," said Commissioner of Labor Catherine Lang. "We are excited to continue working with the many partners who make these events possible."
To help veterans prepare for the hiring fair, the NDOL will host a workshop from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, April 25 at the department's Grand Island career center at 203 E. Stolley Park Road, Suite A. The workshop is intended to help translate military skills into the civilian job market. Topics covered include resume writing, meeting with employers and interviewing skills. Interested veterans and spouses should contact Bob Krall at 308.385.6325 to register.
More than 50 employers are registered for the hiring fair so far. For a list of employers that are registered, go to dol.nebraska.gov.
