High winds and rain couldn't stop a large number of people from bustling in for the big event Tuesday.
Governor Dave Heineman was among the many honored guests in attendance. Heineman says he feels the store is not only a great addition to the community, but shows the strength and growth Kearney continues to make.
"There are just so many great things going on in Kearney right now. And I’m very proud of this community," he said. "You’re growing, you're growing jobs and you're providing opportunity for young people."
To allow the new store to operate smoothly, 650 employees have been hired.
The 93,000 sq. ft. building houses many amenities including a wide array of specialty food items, a local pharmacy, bottle store and more.
