Sen. Mike Johanns is sponsoring a bill to repeal part of President Obama's health care law that puts a tax on manufactured medical devices.
A bipartisan group introduced the legislation Thursday that would get rid of the 2.3 percent excise tax that went into effect in January.
"Thistax doesn't just cost the companies that manufacture these products, it drivesup health care costs for every American," Johanns said. "We need to repeal thismisguided policy so the makers of everything from thermometers to microchipscan develop the new and innovative technology that helps save lives."
Johanns says he believes the tax hurts industry innovation, job creation and patient care.
