A 19-year-old western Nebraska woman has been sentenced for the death of her friend after losing control of her car last March, causing a roll-over accident.

Casey Lake was given four years of probation for felony vehicular homicide Monday in a North Platte courtroom. Lake previously pleaded no contest to the charge.

Lake has been ordered to report to jail on Christmas, the date of the accident and Redinger's birthday during each year of her probation. Lake also is required to spend her 21st birthday in jail.

Authorities say Lake lost control of her car while traveling down Interstate 80 east of Hershey on March 16.

Lake's friend, 19-year-old Emma Redinger, of Ogallala, was killed in the rollover accident.

Prosecutors say Lake was driving more than 100 mph, and that she had been drinking and texting near the time of the accident.
