Kearney Archway Down to Staff of Three
The Great Platte River Road Archway is down to only three paid employees on staff in an effort to reduce costs, but an additional 20 volunteers lend their time to help keep the archway going.
The foundation that runs the attraction says it has about one month of operating funds and attendance revenue is expected to drop as cold weather rolls in.
The group plans to request $400,000 from county and city officials after they decide on long-term funding and marketing to pull the attraction out of its financial struggles.
A bankruptcy judge recently approved a debt-restructuring plan for the archway.
