Local builders lend their talents to help build up a struggling Kearney landmark.
About 15 members of the Kearney Area Builders Association host an Archway workday on Saturday, volunteering their time to build a canopy and get the grounds ready for the upcoming Lincoln Highway celebration on July 1st.
This group is no stranger to helping others in the community, and understands the need to give the Archway a little extra attention.
"You know, I think we feel really good about doing something like this. The Archway is here to stay whether we agree upon that or not," said Association member Diane Jorgensen. "To me, if you've ever heard the term 'it takes a village to raise a child', the Archway is kind of like the community of Kearney's their child, and I think we need to take care of it."
The arbor was put up and the whole grounds was mowed and weeded in the span of eight hours.
