Kearney Crossfit Fundraiser Benefits Local Wrestler, S.A.F.E. Center
A Kearney gym goes the distance, challenging others in support of one of its members, and a community organization. Kearney Crossfit hosted a dual fundraiser on Saturday for former Bearcat and current Junior Olympic wrestler Dante Rodriguez, and to support the S.A.F.E Center, who helps victims of domestic violence. People could get a free workout, compete with others and learn about the program. Organizers say the teamwork of the community and the gym members helps support Kearney as a whole. "The most important thing about today is we want everybody to come out and have people to try new things they haven't tried before,"said gym owner Trevor Brown. "And show some support to let a young man in the community that's got a pretty big opportunity to represent the city of Kearney and state of Nebraska, and then of course helping out the S.A.F.E. center and give to the community as well."
Money from Saturday's fundraiser will be split between the S.A.F.E. Center and the Rodriguez family. The event included a military workout challenge, door prizes, and kid's games.
