Kearney Little League Wants New Complex

Kearney Little League is in desperate need of more baseball and softball fields, but a new little league complex would cost around $8 million.

With the Kearney budget set for the next three years, a restaurant tax may be the best way to pay for it. The Kearney City Council will discuss if a 1 or 2 percent restaurant sales tax should go on the November ballot.

More than a thousand kids play in the Kearney Little League program. The new complex would feature five little league baseball fields and five youth softball fields.

The complex would have lights to play night games and would be located near the Kearney veterans home.
