Kearney Man to Have Surgery Before Jail Sentence Begins
A Kearney man convicted of felony possession of a destructive device will undergo surgery before starting his jail sentence.
Scott Rhone, 31, damaged his eardrum after an explosion blasted too close to his ear.
Authorities say Rhone was injured after he ignited a metal tube filled with powders he purchased at a gun show.
The surgery is scheduled for next month, so the judge ordered Rhone to report to Buffalo County Jail on Jan. 7 to serve his sentence.
Rhone was also sentenced on two drug charges and will serve three years probation after his time in jail.
