The mayor of Kearney is disappointed in some officials in Hall County who trying to derail federal funding for a new vets home in Kearney.

Mayor Stan Clouse says he knew from day one Grand Island would be disappointed, but he says he never expected Hall County to try to derail the project.

Clouse says it's not just a Grand Island Veterans home, but a home for all central Nebraska vets.

"Sending letters to federal agencies telling them not to fund it or respect they have alternative plans that come up out of nowhere, that's just not right," said Clouse.

Clouse added that he has heard several cities at community meetings say they are on Kearney's side in the matter, including Hastings.
