Kearney Park and Rec Hosts Cottontail Scramble

From festivities in the pool at the YMCA to egg hunts at the park, Easter fun is definitely in the air in Kearney this holiday weekend.

Kearney Park and Rec hosted their annual "Cottontail Scramble on Saturday. About two thousand kids and families covered almost every inch of Harmon Park.

Organizers say while this may be one of many Easter egg hunts around town this weekend, it's all about bringing the community together.

"I got a squirt gun and she got a bubble gun. I got green bubbles," said Taylor and Serenity.

"I think it's just fun for the community to have something to do to share with others," said event organizer Kiane Alberts. "The kids come here, they just have fun, see other people, interact with others getting their face painted, balloon animals , so it's just fun for the whole community to come to."

Kearney High School's Key Club the Jaycees and Kearney Volunteer Fire Department also helped with the 'Cottontail Scramble,' which is planned to be an annual event.
