The city of Kearney has announced plans to close Eastbrooke Drive from Avenue S to 56th Street.

According to the city Utilities Department and Midlands Contracting, the closure will begin on Saturday, May 4 to allow for construction of new water and sanitary sewer mains.

The new water and sewer mains will serve the recently annexed Eastbrooke Fourteenth Addition.

Residents are being asked to avoid the construction area and to use Eastbrooke Drive west of the closure to Avenue O and Avenue N for access.

Construction is expected to take about two months to complete, weather permitting.
