Kearney HighSchool Class Officers sold 1,444 lollipops during their annual lollipop sale, held the week before Christmas.

Those sales helped to raise a record $1,065.57 that will benefit the fund drive for a new playground for Emerson Elementary.

It has been 25 years since the playground equipment was replaced. The new equipment is long overdue because each school in the Kearney Public School system is held responsible for obtaining its own playground equipment.

The school has held many fundraising drives over the past year with Eaton Corporation recently contributing $25,000 to go towards the new playground. Hopefully the funds will continue to roll in and the students will have a new playground soon.

Emerson principal Sam Stecher accepted the donation from SeniorClass Officers, Derek Zimmerman, Victoria Heineman, Mandy Sughroue, and StevenLesher.
