Unforeseen expenses in the home can be a burden and difficult for many. And oftentimes when the heater or air conditioning unit goes out, it's unexpected.

But luckily for one veteran and his family, Anderson Brothers in Kearney is helping out.

On Wednesday Anderson Brothers Electric Plumbing and Heating installed a new furnace for Eugene Reichenecker's home.

Eugene is a Korean War veteran who recently realized his 26-year-old heating system wasn't working like it used to.

These units can cost thousands, but Eugene didn't have to pay a dime.

"We got to thinking, 'hey why don't we give it to somebody in need or someone who served our country, someone that could really use it.' So I contacted the veteran's services and they set us up with Eugene and Lois," said Service Sales and Project Manager Nate Klinginsmith.

The company plans to make this a twice a year event for the future -- with plans to install a new heater and A/C unit every year for either a veteran family or family in need.

The installation of the new efficient heater took a day. And Eugene said luckily it came just in time for a new batch of ugly weather.
