In this economy, having a low unemployment rate is supposed to be a good thing... but finding qualified candidates to fill those jobs is a whole different ball game.
Kearney's unemployment rate sits at 2.5 percent which is even lower than Lincoln's or Omaha's.
For employment agencies like Manpower, that means there's too many jobs, but not enough qualified workers to fill those positions.
"Probably the most important thing is that employers and government and educational institutions really work together to really kind of help solve this problem," said Manpower branch manager Chuck Beck. "It's not a simple solution, it's not something that will be fixed overnight, however it's something we can work on and hopefully improve."
Beck also says it's important to help the younger generation step into the roles of those older skilled workers who are leaving due to retirement.
