Lawmakers want toincrease college savings for lower income students.
In 2011 nearly halfof the participants in the Nebraska Educational Savings Trust (NEST) made morethan $100,000 dollars. Families making below $50,000 accounted for less than sevenpercent.
Senator Rick Kolowskihas made plans to introduce a bill next year to help low income families.
It would excludescholarships, savings plans and work-study income as assets for people applyingfor public benefits.
