Live Auction and Benefit Helps Orleans Family
Neighbors are coming together to help an Orleans woman stay strong in her fight with cancer.
Friends, families and community members filled the town's Agriculture Center Sunday night for a special auction and benefit to help Kris Tripe.
Kris has been battling a bone marrow cancer.
She says this benefit helps her stay strong, adding she appreciates all the help, especially this time of year.
"It's kinda why I really didn't think it'd be as big as it is," said benefit recipient Kris Tripe. "Because you know, it's Christmas time, everybody's got their expenses and buying gifts, it's just, it's overwhelming how supportive everyone's being."
"Just the closeness and togetherness of our community is, everybody watches out for everyone in our small area," said co-organizer Angie Andre. "And it's just, just a nice good feeling, it's good for the soul."
Proceeds from Sunday night's auction and fundraiser will help with medical expenses.
Modern Woodsman is also matching up to $2,500.
