A man accused of stomping on a Kearney man's head last summer has been acquitted by a jury in Buffalo County District Court.
The judge read the not guilty verdict for 29-year-old Jonathan Schmidt on Wednesday.
Schmidt was accused of helping to pull Jacob Magee out of a van last July. Prosecutors said Schmidt beat Magee and stomped on his head.
Magee had to be treated for injuries that included facial fractures and a broken nose.
Schmidt testified during his trial that he did hit someone during the incident that included several people, but denied causing Magee's injuries.
Schmidt's lawyer says the prosecution had trouble proving who caused Magee's injuries.
