Man Gets Prison for Helping Shooter Flee Sidney in 2012 Murder
A 36-year-old man has been given 20 to 60 months in a Nebraska prison after helping a California man flee following a fatal shooting in Sidney.
Billy Fields had previously pleaded guilty to being an accessory to a felony as part of a deal worked out with prosecutors to testify during the trial of the man he aided, Jason Custer.
Prosecutors say Fields helped Custer flee Sidney after Custer shot Adam McCormick in November 2012.
Authorities arrested McCormick at a Big Springs hotel the next day. Custer is scheduled to be sentenced on March 18.
