McCook School to Build New Kitchen

McCook Central Elementary School is expecting to start work on a new school kitchen this year.

Currently, the school is hauling student lunches across town from other schools. The reason for the lunch commute is because there isn't enough room to prepare the food at the school.

Construction crews are planning to knock down a wall between an office area, classroom and a small area where the food is currently being distributed to create enough room for a full kitchen.

The new kitchen will have convection ovens, dishwashers, freezers and storage space.

Construction on the new kitchen will begin this summer so as to be completed by the beginning of the new school year.
