Minden Will Make Alcohol Decision in May

The Minden City Council will wait to decide whether or not to allow stores to sell alcohol on Sundays.

The issue has been a controversial one for the town and council members say they want to hear more from the public before making a decision.

In 2006 following a petition to get the issue on the ballot, 509 people voted against alcohol sales on Sundays compared to 495 people who voted for it, a mere 14 vote difference.

“If anyone has objections to that wasn't here this evening, it gives the public the opportunity to express,” explained Council President Ted Griess on why the decision was postponed.

The City Council is expected to make a decision on May 5th or 19th.
