- 8 slices 1/4" thick, white bread, French bread. Brioche, or Italian your choice
- 8 slices (thin) good ham!
- 8 slices (thin) prosciutto
- 16 slices (thin) gouda, white American, Swiss, Gruyere. Your choice.
Combine 3 oz. Creole mustard or brown mustard with 2-3 oz. mayo
Spread 1 side of all bread slices with mustard mixture. Place ham on 4 slices of bread, followed by cheese. Repeat once more. Place lonely slice of bread on top. Press down with your hand. Trim crust or don't, your preference.
Dredge in mixture of 3 eggs, beaten, with 1/4 cup heavy cream and sprinkle of chili powder.
Then dredge in flour. Pan fry french toast style until golden brown and cheese is bubbly cooking from the sides. Slice in 2, dust with powdered sugar and serve with your favorite jam.
