The Dobytown Kiwanis Club hosted their annual backpack drive for the 23rd year in a row. The group is giving book bags to students who are on the reduced lunch or free lunch program.

They will be giving out 1,200 book bags that are filled with all the supplies a student will need for the upcoming school year.

When they started this drive, they only gave out four bags. But, more than twenty years later they are handing out over a thousand.

The club will be handing out the backpacks on Tuesday; they will go to students in Kearney, Grand Island, Lexington, Gibbon and Broken Bow.
