The name of a 9-year-old boy who died after being struck and pinned by a skid steer loader has been released.

The boy was identified Sunday as Grant Johnson. He was a third-grade student at Ashland Elementary School.

The accident happened around 4 p.m. Saturday near Greenwood in eastern Nebraska. Authorities said the boy stepped into the path of the machine as it was backed up. The machine was operated by 35-year-old Augusto Figueroa to clear brush and debris in a grove of trees.

Capt. Dave Lamprecht with the Cass County Sheriff's Office said the death appears to be a ``total accident.''
