Authorities have identified the man killed in a two-vehicle crash in Northeast Nebraska Tuesday.

According to Pierce County Sheriff Rick Eberhardt, 59-year-old John Malmberg, of Norfolk, died from his injuries after an SUV crashed into his vehicle at an intersection about seven miles northeast of Pierce.

Authorities say a southbound SUV driven by 27-year-old Erick Weisz, of Norfolk, failed to stop at the intersection of Nebraska Highway 98 and 557th Avenue and collided with Malmberg's eastbound vehicle.

Malmberg was flown to Mercy Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, where he was pronounced dead.

Weisz was taken to Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk, where he was treated and released. A passenger in Weisz's vehicle was treated at the scene.

The accident is still under investigation.
