Soon, all public schools in Nebraska will be required to set aside time each day to say the Pledge of Allegiance.

The state Board of Education voted unanimously Friday to require schools to make time everyday to say the pledge. Schools will start saying the pledge sometime this school year.

The state board passed the rule after Nebraska lawmakers failed to advance a law requiring the pledge in schools.

School districts across Nebraska must comply in order to keep their state accreditation and funding.

This rule is modeled after a 2002 New Hampshire law that federal courts upheld.
