TheNebraska Health Ministries Network Conference, featuring motivational comedianBobby Henline, will be May 30-31 at Peace Lutheran Church, 1710 N. North Rd.,in Grand Island.
Theconference is designed for individuals involved in health ministries, the faithcommunity, nursing, social services, clergy or mental health. Five contacthours are available for nurses from Iowa Western Community College Iowa Boardof Nursing Provider #6.
TheFriday, May 31, portion of the conference runs from 7:30 a.m.- 4:45 p.m. It willinclude presentations on supporting military families, paying tribute to fallenveterans, trauma treatment and support for veterans and their families, dealingwith Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, helping service personnel readjust toreturning home and steps to recovery from a life-threatening injury.
Theevent starts at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, with a vendor display, followed bya presentation by Henline from 7-9 p.m. Henline is an American hero -- andstand-up comedian -- who spreads joy and hope through his love of stand-upcomedy and motivational speaking.
A veteranof Desert Storm by age 19, Henline was inspired to re-enlist in the Army afterthe Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and was deployed in Iraq three timesbefore being injured by a roadside bomb just north of Baghdad on April 7, 2007.Of the five men in his vehicle, Henline was the lone survivor, suffering burnsto nearly 40 percent of his body. He spent the next six months in a hospitalfighting for his life, had his left hand amputated and has endured more than 40surgeries.
