Some Nebraska lakes have been stocked this year with walleye and northern pike fish in addition to the usual rainbow trout.
Nebraska Game and Parks officials say the Calamus and North Platte fish hatcheries have raised 7- to 9-inch walleye and 12-inch northern pike to better their odds of survival.
Advanced walleyes were stocked in Branched Oak Reservoir, Buckskin Hills Lake, Cottonmill Lake, Holmes Lake, Leigh Lake, Maskenthine Reservoir, Morman Island West, Powder Creek Reservoir, Sandy Channel No. 8, Wehrspann Lake, Lake Wanahoo, Wildwood Lake, Willow Creek Reservoir and Zorinsky Lake.
Northern pike were placed in Alda Lake, Calamus Reservoir, Cottonmill Lake, Glenn Cunningham Lake, Hayes Center Lake, Hershey Lake and Lake Wanahoo.
