Nebraska State Patrol Seizes Pot in Multiple Traffic Stops


Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol seized nearly 20 lbs. of pot over the weekend in multiple traffic stops along Interstate 80.

The first stop occurred around 2:30 a.m. Sunday near the Lincoln Airport Exit on I-80. The trooper pulled over an eastbound 2012 Ford Fusion for following too close.

The trooper's drug dog indicated that back of the car smelled like drugs. Upon searching the car, the trooper found 14 packages of pot totaling eight pounds in a locked tote in the trunk.

Nicholas VanGorden, 40, of Denver, Colo., was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver. He was taken to Lancaster County Jail.

Michael Fenili, 40, of Fresno, Calif. was arrested and taken to Hamilton County Jail after more pot was found in a second traffic stop Sunday.

The second traffic stop occurred on I-80 near Aurora around 3:45 p.m.

A trooper pulled over an eastbound 2012 Hyundai Genesis for speeding. Following that, a NSP drug dog alerted the trooper to the odor of drugs coming from the car.

The trooper searched the car and seized over 10 lbs. of pot. The drugs were located in two padlocked foot lockers in the trunk.

Fenili has been charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
