Nebraskans Pay Most in Cell Phone Taxes Across America


According to The Tax Foundation, Nebraskans pay the more than anyone else in the country in cell phone taxes and fees.

The average American wireless customer pays over 17 percent in taxes and fees on theircell phone bill, including more than 11 percent in state and local charges,according to a new analysis bythe Tax Foundation.

In Nebraska, the combined federal-state-local average rateis nearly 24.5 percent.

The report, compiled using recent data from a study done by Scott Mackey of KSE Partners, says 26 states have average state-local wireless taxes and feesin excess of 10 percent; with federal taxes, some cell phonesubscribers pay more than 20 percent in taxes.
