Nebraska's Best Burger Contest Begins in March, A Few Changes


Kearney – It'sthat time of the year again - time to make your nominations for the restaurantyou think has the best burger in the state.

Nebraska's farmers and ranchers along with the Nebraska BeefCouncil have announced the 4th annual Nebraska's Best Burger contestalong with a few changes.

The new format to the contest will determine the winnerbased on a combination of online votes and the scores from a panel of judges.

Online nominations can be made from March 1stthrough March 15th on the Nebraska Beef Council website or through their Facebook page.On March 15th, the top five nominated restaurants will be announced.

From March 15th through March 31st,the public will be asked to vote again for one of the five finalists. A panelof judges will also score the top five contestants and the overall winner willbe determined by the highest combined total from the online vote and judges'scores.

Another change will also let past winners win again. Lastyear, the Peppermill Restaurant in Valentine claimed the top prize.

"This contest is really about showing off the great tastingbeef served all across Nebraska," said Adam Wegner, Director of Marketing forthe Nebraska Beef Council. "We've had hundreds of restaurants nominated forthis award in the past and all of them were viable candidates. We're lookingforward to even more participation this year."

Other past winners of the award include the Cellar Bar &Grill in Kearney and Stella's Bar & Grill in Bellevue.
