The new Kearney Regional Medical Center now has ambulances at their facility in order to better help patients.

They are operated by Midwest Medical Transport, which recently invested in a second helicopter for the use of several Nebraska hospitals.

"It enables us to provide a network of services to help local community, local hospitals as well as the EMS and fire fighters who need our service," said Midwest Medical's Andy Arthurs.

The Midwest Medical transport has a helicopter in North Platte and a new helicopter in Hastings, the time difference for Kearney between Hastings and North Platte is 18 minutes, which could be the difference in saving a life.

"Getting the patients into a higher level of care where they be taken care in a trauma situation or into a cath lab for heat procedures, that could make a difference in saving a life," explained flight nurse Kimberly Wessles.

Kearney residents who dial 911 will still receive emergency treatment from Good Samaritan Hospital.
