New Hospitalist Joins the Ranks at Good Samaritan

Kearney – Good Samaritan Hospitalist Service announced Friday the addition of Anton Smolik, M.D., to their Hospitalist program.

An Alma, Neb. native, Smolik earned his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he also completed an internship in internal medicine and primary care.

Smolik completed his residency in rural family medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital, where he underwent comprehensive training in a variety of medical specialties. Smolik's nine years of experience as a physician and his respectful and compassionate nature make him a great asset to Good Samaritan Hospitalist Service.

Smolik joins five physicians and a physician assistant in the program.

Hospitalists are internal or family medicine specialists who care for hospital patients and oversee complex medical situations. They provide for the general, around-the-clock care of hospitalized patients and do not see patients outside the hospital setting.

The Hospitalist Service allows physicians to request that a hospitalist take over the care of a patient who has been hospitalized or who is in the emergency department. Physicians may also request a hospitalist consultation for patients.
