      No-Till Seminar Looks to Educate Farmers on This Popular Drought Farming Option

      The Upper Big Blue NRD, alongwith University of Nebraska Extension Education of Seward County, and UNLDepartment of Biological Systems Engineering are sponsoring a No-Till and CropManagement Seminar on February 27, at the Seward County Fairgrounds inSeward.

      The seminar will begin with registration andrefreshments from 9-9:30 a.m., with the no-till seminar officially beginningat 9:30 a.m. and wrapping-up at 3:30 p.m.

      A free meal will be providedover the noon hour. There is no charge for any part of the seminar.

      Speakers include Dr. PaulJasa (UNL), Dr. Ray Ward (Ward Laboratories, Inc.), Dr. Jonathon Lundgren(Agriculture Research Service, USDA), and Dan Leininger, Water Conservationistof the Upper Big Blue Natural Resources District.

      These speakers willshare their experiences with no-till farming on such topics as no-tillequipment, residue management, how no-till will save soil moisture, nitrogenmanagement ideas to reduce nitrogen losses, and naturally controlling insectsin corn/soybeans with predators. CCA credits are available.
