Authorities say a North Platte man suspected of beating his wife has died a few days after shooting himself while officers approached to make an arrest.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office says 26-year-old Christopher Tidball died Thursday following the Tuesday night shooting at the Patriot Mobile Home Park.

North Platte police were called to the home after receiving a report of a physical disturbance. When they arrived, an injured woman said her husband had kicked her and attacked her with a lamp.

Tidball had fled from the home before officers arrived. Authorities were notified later that evening that he had returned home and as they converged on the home, they heard a gunshot from inside.

They discovered Tidball inside and had him transported to the local hospital. He was then transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney for life-threatening injuries.
