      NSP Names First Female Troop Area Captain

      Lincoln - The Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) has announced ahistoric promotion. Lieutenant Brenda Konfrst will assume the position ofCaptain in Command of Troop A-Omaha.

      Anearly 24-year veteran of the agency, Captain Konfrst, 46, has served in boththe Field Services and Investigative Services Divisions. Having startedher career assigned as a traffic trooper in Troop A- Omaha, Captain Konfrstalso served as a member of the Troop A Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teamand was a certified Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).

      "Withthis promotion, Captain Konfrst becomes the first female Troop Area Commanderin the agency's history," said Colonel David Sankey, Superintendent of theNebraska State Patrol.

      "Weare very proud of Brenda. She has come up through the ranks and is an excellentchoice to take over the reins as Troop A Commander," he said.

      Captain Konfrst takes overfor Major Brett Friesz, who was promoted to Investigative Services Major at StateHeadquarters in Lincoln.
