The University of Nebraska says its campus financial aid offices will work with students whose families were hit by recent damaging storms.
University officials say the financial aid offices at all four campuses will take steps to assist those students and families who are from areas that have been declared federal disaster areas.
Assistance includes waiving some required documentation for financial aid applications if they were lost or destroyed in the storm.
Other assistance includes reviewing possible adjustments to parents' and/or students' income used to determine eligibility for financial aid as well as losses of real property.Additionally, resident undergraduate students who qualify for the federal Pell Grant program and have experienced documentable loss of income or property as a result of severe summer weather could be considered eligible for the 2014-15 Collegebound Nebraska program.
