Updated: Name Released for Man Killed in Oxford Fire


An early morning fire near Oxford has killed one person.

The body found at the scene of the fire has been identified as Edward Holste, 66. Holste owned the house that caught fire Monday morning north of Oxford.

Authorities believe Holste died of smoke inhalation.

Firefighters were called to Holste's home a little before 7 a.m. on Monday.

The local fire departments were able to contain the fire. Once the fire was under control, firefighters found the remains of one unknown person.

The fire is under investigation by the state fire marshal.

The Harlan County Sheriff's Office says no foul play is suspected.
