Updated: One Person Killed in Fiery Crash Near Bradshaw

One person is dead following a fiery rollover crash on U.S. Highway 34 in southeast Nebraska.

York County Sheriff's Department identified the driver as Steve Opfer, of Polk.

Firefighters from Bradshaw were sent to what was reported as a cornfield fire about a half mile east of the Hamilton/York County line after 12 a.m. Saturday.

Bradshaw Fire Chief Todd Hellerich says another motorist who stopped to investigate the blaze soon realized it was a vehicle on fire.

Hellerich says firefighters found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames by the time they arrived and that the driver was still inside.

Due to the severe damage of the vehicle, authorities weren't immediately able to identify the driver or the make of his vehicle.
